The UK is in a unique position- our government has the opportunity to protect marine wildlife through our trade agreements. UK imports from the Faroe Islands amounted to £1.1 billion by the end of 2023.

We are asking the UK government to suspend the Free Trade agreement with the Faroe Islands until it receives a legally binding agreement from the Faroese Government that it will cease all further whale and dolphin hunts on the Islands.

Labour have said they would introduce the biggest boost in animal welfare in a generation”

This boost can not just be what happens on UK shores, but what we allow to happen through trade agreements with countries that show disregard for wildlife and animal welfare.

Steve Reed, the environment secretary, has said Labour has a proud track record on animal welfare- the next Labour government will build on this record to end cruelty toward animals”.

We must ensure that these are not just words from the government- we need action.

We can use this unique leverage that the new Labour government has and maintain the UKs position as a world leader in the protection of marine mammals.

Please add your voice in parliament to Slash Trade, Not Whales for a future where we trade in goods and services without an attack on nature.

We cannot import an attack on nature.
