The King has spoken! But silence on Nature.
I have just got back from Westminster- witnessing the pomp, pageantry and politics and reflecting on a new government and the challenges we all face in the next 4 years.
In his speech, the King said “My Government recognises the urgency of the global climate challenge”… a promising start, with a mention of “a need to improve water quality”.
But no mention of nature, the environment, wildlife or biodiversity.
If our Government’s legislative programme is to be “mission led and based upon the principles of security, fairness and opportunity for all” we need to prioritise policies on the one thing that underpins our security. Nature.
So now the real work begins. The real change. And I need your help.
Today in the King’s speech the priorities were outlined for this parliamentary term – nature was not mentioned once .

We need this new government to commit to restoring nature in their first 100 days in office , get involved at https://t.co/4Mc5c5F8hC pic.twitter.com/vLNOPBrJ0W
At a time of climate and biodiversity crises the stakes have never been higher for those elected officials that now sit on those green benches.
Because green is what we need- our green and pleasant land is dying… we are one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth.
Love and Rage are launching a new campaign ‘100 Days: Restore Nature’
This government has 100 days to show they’re serious about restoring nature.
We’ll be dialling up the pressure on fox hunting, the badger cull, agricultural runoff, sewage, bottom trawling and other issues that we have the solutions for.
We must all hold our politicians to account… because every day counts.
The clock is not just ticking in the halls of Westminster, it’s ticking for life on Earth.
